“Guess what I did, Mom,” he said excitedly. This was nothing new.
Sam was always eager to share his accomplishments with Mom.
“What did you do, Sam?” I inquired innocently. “I joined the air force.” I had to put down
the phone and laugh hysterically.
This is the kid who sat at the dinner table and announced that he would
never
join the military. Ha! Always the joker, he delivered the best

Sam says every young person should work in housekeeping at a nursing home before graduating from high school. Because of this experience, he now garners many accolades from the military brass for his expertise in cleaning. He always said our boys’ room would have been clean if it hadn’t for his other two brothers. Now, I believe him. • Sports: tennis, swimming, basketball, baseball, soccer, running, skiing, paint ball, and anything else he has a mind to conquer • Researching and writing about issues surrounding politics and religion • Music: guitar, harmonica, and Grandpa Southerland's goat horn |
