Lydia has always been a
self-starter.
I don’t remember teaching her how to read, but she probably
caught on by listening to her brothers’ lessons.
Nevertheless, it
turned into a great love of books and has eventually led to her taking
up her own pen in the form of letter writing and a blog called Pearl's
Gleanings.
Also, she taught herself how to
play both
piano and violin, and we are often blessed to hear her lovely voice
singing hymns and scripture songs while practicing.

Besides
graduating from our homeschool high school with honors, Lydia also
accomplished many of the womanly arts:
- housekeeping and home decorating
- seed starting; flower, herb, and
vegetable gardening
- sewing and quilting (including modifying
existing patterns and creating her own)
- scrapbooking, card making, cross
stitching, crocheting, and knitting
Lydia is our rose among thorns, a beautiful and
accomplished young woman filled with grace and poise. Yet, what really
stands out is her giving and submissive servant’s spirit. Her
family thanks the Lord for her every day as she blesses us with the
fruit of her hands.
